Conservative Group Changes Bible Politically – No More Liberalism

Jesus was a Liberal
Have you ever heard a Bible-thumper tell you that the Bible was written by God and only God? Did they try and tell you that you must take the Bible literally and any attempts to do so otherwise was a violation of God’s law? Did they tell you that the Bible has not changed since its conception? Well get ready to watch these theories thrown out the window.

A Conservative group called Conservapedia (because we all know how knowledge has a Liberal Bias), has founded the Conservative Bible Project. Which is attempting to eliminate the Liberal passages in the Bible to better suit the Conservative political agenda. It is a Wikipedia-like project with a clear objective: to eliminate the possibilities of Jesus’ clear Liberal bias.

Imagine, that! Changing the Bible outright because the original author was too Liberal. Wait, doesn’t that mean God?

Steven Colbert has asked his viewers to add him to the re-authored Bible:

The Colbert Report Mon – Thurs 11:30pm / 10:30c
Tip/Wag – Conservapedia, Louvre & Honda Unicycle
www.colbertnation.com
Colbert Report Full Episodes Political Humor Michael Moore

They claim 10 Principles that include “avoiding unisex, ‘gender inclusive’, language”, “using powerful new conservative terms”, “Express Free Market Parables” and most importantly, “a strong framework that enables a thought-for-thought translation without corruption by liberal bias”.

Talk about revisionism and gall, to rewrite the Bible takes balls. Besides, they certainly have their work cut out for them. Jesus WAS a Liberal.

Peace:
Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God. [Matthew 5:9]

Death:
Thou shalt not kill [Matthew 5:21]

Judgment:
If any one of you is without sin, let him be the first to cast a stone at her. [John 8:7]

Capitalism:
Truly, I say unto you, it will
be hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven. [Matthew 19:23]

You cannot serve both God and Money. [Matthew 6:24.]

Separation of Church & State:
Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar’s; and unto God the
things that are God’s. [Matthew 22:21]

This all may seem ridiculous and that’s because it is, these wackos have politicized Christianity so much, they are hurting it. They have pushed middle-of- the-roaders like myself away and jeopardized the whole ballgame on a couple of elections with very little long-term benefit. Is it any wonder that Atheism is on the rise (now at 15% of the U.S. and more powerful than Jews, Muslims, Buddhists and Scientologists combined)? Imagine where the agnostic number lies (which btw, was what most of our key founding fathers believed).

I went to a site recently where some Bible-Thumper tried to dictate the terms of which an atheist should approach Christians. He so arrogantly tried to tell his foes that atheists were smug, to not “assume every piece of Christian evangelism is directed at you”, to “admit that the debate about God is complex” yet the Scientific Method is “open to abuse”, all the while he played the victim role, “Try to deal with the actual notions of God seriously”, as if it was going out of style.

What nerve!

When he was flooded with opinions otherwise, he closed comments and declared that he was “glad that the atheists proved him right”. When I checked back a day later, he removed all comments. Guess they didn’t prove him right after all.

So I posted this sure to be rejected comment:

“”I am not an atheist yet you make a good case for it.

When smug people like you represent God, then God is weak. You are lacking in knowledge of the Bible and you are lacking of good intentions. You catch more flies with honey, not with ill-intentioned declarations of intellectual banter.

If you believe in what you claim, than you need an intervention. Find yourself. For you are not doing God’s work, you are pushing people away, you are doing the work of a proud, smug, righteous individual who triumphantly believes he knows better than his foes. So did Lucifer.

Christianity is about atonement, sacrifice and good works. Many have exploited this in the name of selfishness and profit, (ie: the Crusades, the 30 Years War, the Holocaust of both Jews and Native Americans), yet the greatness of Christianity is judged by the greatness of its disciples.

Take a long hard look at yourself before you throw stones in glass houses. For he who is without sin does not exist, as Jesus deemed, and the only one who can judge a man’s heart is God.

Lead by example, not force. “”

We’ll see I suppose. Somehow I doubt it, so I’m posting it here.

The Bible”

From the rushed Martin Luther addition to the American Standard edtion, from the King James version to the New International Version, the Bible has undergone numerous revisions which can radically alter the interpretation of the Good Book. There are over 100 different versions of the Bible, 20 popular versions in English alone.

How can God have gotten the Bible so wrong that over 100 different revisions must take place?

In addition, the New Testament was created amongst the backdrop of politics, canonized in the waning days of the Western Roman Empire. Rome would not allow its blossoming new religion, and growing control mechanism, to speak ill of the state. Yet it goes back even further. The Book of Thomas was thrown out of the original gospels to satisfy the political forces of the day (pre-Roman).

My bottom line is this. I have met Christians of many faiths, many creeds, yet I have met few that lead by example, as Jesus did. The ones that did had more sway on me than then anyone else and I greatly admired them. Even if I was an atheist, which I am not, Jesus lived a life of good works and virtual perfection. We should all be inspired by his devotion and good example.

The Republicans have lost touch with their own God and have found more faith with the likes of Adolf Hitler. They believe they are always right, never wrong, and make more political capital out of scapegoating the Gays, the Immigrants, the Liberals and still, in this day and age, the Jews. When someone challenges them, they are always the victim. When all else fails, call your enemy what you are.

Enough is enough already! It’s time to call these guys out for what they truly are, hypocrites.
