We commonly refer to members of the Far-Right, here at Soapblox.com, as Right-Wing whack jobs or nut jobs or just plain idiots. It was true in its day, however no euphemism can describe how utterly loony-tunes the Republican fringe has become.
We all know that Rush Limbaugh is hoping for the U.S. to fail just to prove that Rush is right and Obama is wrong. I thought that was, perhaps, the stupidest political move that I had heard up to that point. Especially since the United States has historically bounced back from many a recession and even a few really bad depressions. I had no idea that things would only downward spiral into the realm of downright insanity.
When recently elected GOP Party Chairman Michael Steel began talking about Hip-Hop-ifying the Republican Party, that should have been my first clue that things would only get worse for a party so badly beaten, they don’t control a single plank of government and by a long-shot.
Then the Far-Right Fox News network’s key loudmouth lie machines began to cater to their small, 3 million strong (on a good hour out of 300 million Americans) audience of ultra paranoid whackos. The rhetoric began to get amped up against Obama and they even began cannibalizing Chairman Steel. Sean Hannity then began to go ballistic, now abandoned by Alan Combs, becoming so fiercely partisan that Triumph of the Will seemed like a reasonable interpretation of Hitler in comparison.
I thought that no one could be more cuckoo, yet Glen Beck proved me wrong. His show began spewing out rhetoric about Doomsday and he even broke down in tears, crying about how he loved his country and he feared for it. He since started a program called the 9-12 project that called for America to return to the fear and confusion of the day after 9-11. Colbert ripped him a new one and lampooned the ambitious opportunist for basing his career on 9-11, even playing a recording of Beck trashing 9-11 victims.

Along side this moronic soldier of misfortune came the tea-bagging movement. Right-Wing whackos began sending tea-bags to Democrats and the White House in protest of, well I’m not sure what they’re protesting, losing I guess. They fancied themselves patriots or something. I suppose they have no idea how stupid they look.
Never mind the fact that tea-bagging is the sexual act of sucking on a man’s genitals, the clueless Right has really no message anymore. They’ve become a party of losers, sore losers at that, crying and bitching and moaning endlessly about what Obama plans to do to America. I’ve heard them call Obama a socialist, a communist, a fascist, a tyrant, a wussie, a Muslim and a radical Black Christian. Now, these contradict themselves 6 times to Sunday and despite the often stupidity of the American voter, they are not THAT stupid at any point in time. Give the American people some credit Fox News!
With no cards left to play and nothing left to lose, the Radical Right has turned to their same old bag of tricks, Red-Scare. Fringe Republican Representative Bachman has cited Socialists in government. Rep Spencer Bachus says he has “a list of 17 socialists in Congress.†Glen Beck even said that Communists have infiltrated the electrical grid and are getting ready to launch. What are these idiots going to do when nothing happens? This isn’t 1955. There is no nuclear Soviet Union or even a reputable socialist or communist movement. There is no plausible threat and the election in 2008 proved that Americans don’t give a flying fire truck about socialism anymore. There are even polls that show a majority of Americans do not believe that capitalism is superior to socialism. The tide has turned and left the Republican Corporate Party behind.
I have gotten into debates with fringe rank and file Republicans and they have nothing to talk about. They use the word patriot over and over again while whining about socialism. It’s pretty sad. I mean, Obama has been in power for less than 3 months and they think they can pin the recession on him, all the while when any glimmer of hope comes along they give the credit to Bernanke.
I’ll say it loud: The Republican Party has become a party of sore losing, fear-mongering, hypocritical idiots who lack any cohesive message or purpose! That 3rd party Newt Gingrich was talking about is starting to sound plausible. An ultra-Right Wing Conservative movement that is doomed to fail. When it’s over, the Republicans will return to being moderate perhaps.
While we are all laughing at this sad footnote of Conservative politics, these guys are dangerous! They send out mixed messages, a form of brainwashing, and are at risk of becoming demagogues of hate in hard times. Remember 1930s leader Father Conklin who led a movement of so-called Christians to the brink of anti-Semitism and fell just short of endorsing Hitler. Guys like Glen Beck who scared lunatics, like that gun nut who shot all those people in Bingumgton, NY, had people convinced that Obama was coming for their guns and that the world is at an end. Then the coward, Beck, tried to say he had nothing to do with it, while only a year earlier he claimed the video game Grand Theft Auto was influencing violent, minority (of course) criminals. What a hypocrite! A dangerous one at that!

While I believe in free-speech, I believe these frauds over at Fox News should be held accountable to what they say. They should be fact checked and scrutinized as should all of the major media. I go to great lengths to make sure I’m telling the truth. How can morons like Beck and Hannity get away with outright lies?
Paying too much attention to these slugs is just what they want. They feed on attention like a leech does blood. It is what they thrive on. All the while, a tiger left uncaged can come back to strike when you least expect it. Something must be done and soon. Perhaps laughter is the best medicine?
So for now we can laugh at what a sad display the Republican party has become. In hard-times, it is fun to smile for a change. Plus it gives Jon Stewart, Colbert and other satirists a ton of material. I mean, I never stop getting a kick out of ignorant Righties saying “let’s tea-bag Obamaâ€! Does it honestly get any better than that?
