It\’s Official Bush is the Worst President in History!

Bush is the worst President in history

We finally know what the W in George. W. Bush stands for: Worst President in U.S. History. While this is something we rational beings on the Left have long known, now it has been concluded by the leading minds in the field of U.S. history. In a recent article on W.’s recent claims that history will prove him right, the Washington Post is reporting that of 109 leading U.S. historians, only 2 believe Bush will be judged favorably. Even worse for the bumbling Commander-in-Chief, a majority of those 109 believe that Bush is “the worst President in U.S. History!”

Take a moment to realize the gravity of that statement. If Bush was being tried in a court of history, a democratic assembly of the leading authorities in the field concludes that he did such a bad job, that there is no one worse! That’s behind such grand failures as the impeached Andrew Johnson, the incompetent Tyler, useless Buchanan and the scandalized Warren Harding, a President so bad, he would have likely been impeached had he not died of a heart attack!

What really must sting is that his hero Reagan, enemies Clinton, Carter and even his own father all rank considerably higher on the list.

Bush claims he will be vindicated in time. This is possible yet not likely. Iraq may someday resemble a working state, however the best we can possibly hope for is that Iraq will someday be as successful as the other U.S. nation building enterprise, the Philippines, which today is an unstable, corrupt democracy plagued by a perpetual civil war. Furthermore, it is not likely that Bush’s grand makeover of the Middle-East will every happen. Iraq traded away American leverage, as Tom Friedman argues, and made Iran far more powerful than it had been previously. So anyway you slice it, Iraq was a bad idea.

The failure of Iraq doesn’t even take into consideration the manipulation of 9-11 to push Americans into war with Iraq. A recent Congressional report proves, finally, that Bush manipulated evidence to convince Americans that war with Iraq was a good idea. Duh! Scott McClellan backs up this reality with accounts from within the White House, as did Richard Clarke, Bob Woodward and Joe Wilson.

See, despite Bush’s grand failures in foreign policy, in which he enraged almost the entire world, he failed at legislation too. In education (such as No Child Left Alone, I mean Behind, cutting student loans and deregulating the student loan industry) Social Security Reform, Immigration Reform, Free Trade Agreements (although he did get CAFTA through unnoticed), the Medicare Part D debacle and past bills to protect the Credit Card companies from us consumers, just to name a few. This is in addition to his absolute failure in spending having expanded the government to its largest size, rung up the nation’s debt to its largest size, cut taxes for the rich and the corporations, handed out no-bid corporate welfare contracts to the inner circle of defense builders, including the Vice President’s former company and pushed an already failed policy, “trickle down economics” and deregulation that ultimately caused the economy to falter.
The great self-styled “War President” failed there too. He made warfare more expensive with private contractors, muddied the rules of engagement of war in general with Blackwater security companies, ignored the Geneva Convention, diminished the morale of the U.S. military threatening to destroy the volunteer army, tried to cut benefits for the same U.S. soldiers he sent off to die, promoted torture, and became an effigy the terrorists rallied around, ultimately, becoming their greatest recruiting tool.

The scariest Bush failures are far more lasting. His stealing of the 2000 election set a dangerous precedent that expanded Federal authority, he ignored Congress, ignored subpoenas, jailed American Citizens without a due process, packed the courts with incompetent buffoons, and extended executive power rather deceptively and unethically by using “Executive Orders” and “Signing Statements”, that are not only never mentioned in the Constitution, they ultimately weaken and undermine the very document he has been sworn to protect.

Are you better off today than you were 8 years ago? I know I’m not. My dollar doesn’t go nearly as far, I’m paying $4 a gallon for gas, my rent has gone up, jobs are more scarce and I’m getting shafted on my student loans. Under Bush, the banks pay me less interest than I’ve seen in my life, while the Real-Estate market collapsed, making it very difficult for me to get a loan. Teachers are striking across the street from my house, as bush’s dividend tax left my state too broke to pay for education, and the worst part is, for the first time in my life, I have never been more uncertain of the future for this great nation.

The U.S. definitely seems weaker today than it did 8 years ago. It’s astonishing what 8 years of incompetent rule can do to a powerful nation. In 2000, there was no question who was #1, today, American businesses boast strongly of “decoupling” which questions the economic relevance of the U.S. economy.

If ever a President needed to be impeached, it is this clown. He’s done such a bad job, he’s self-destructed his own party and confused Conservative ideology more than any Democrat ever could. The South today is the weakest it’s been politically since Reconstruction. I wish the damage stopped there, however he’s badly damaged this nation and the constitution to the point of treason. Kucinich introduced an impeachment bill in Congress, however it is not likely to be taken seriously.

While I cannot feel too bad for the deteriorating Right, I look upon the rank and file Republicans as a Sheppard looks upon his slaughtered flock. They have been so blindly lead astray to the point where they are voting against their own interest. Poor fools! They got what they deserved for dancing with the devil. The fact is, we were right and they were wrong. Their policies brought bust, bankruptcy, foreclosure, needless war and needless death. I’m not gloating, just simply stating the truth. Believe me, how can one feel good at a time like this. Those culture war fools dragged us down with them, into this pit of despair.

Perhaps we all got what we deserved. We were so full of ourselves, so eager to talk about how powerful we were. We joyously guzzled gas down those damn 8mpg SUVs, while getting fat on the labor of poor Central American farmers. Our leaders manipulate and meddle with as many nations as they can and commit horrible atrocities in our name. Most people are unaware of these facts and prefer to live in blind ignorance. Iraq however, was even worse. It happened right before our very eyes. While many like me were in the streets protesting before the war, not enough of my fellow countrymen joined in to stop the blunder from happening. I recall preachers selling the load of lies in Sunday sermons as if unjustified slaughter is part of the Pro-Life platform. The newspapers beat the drums of war and we all stood back and let it happen. Now it is too late, and our fate is now intertwined with the Middle East (not just war but oil), which is a terrible place to gamble upon.

The sad part is, it will likely get worse before it gets better. It could get much worse. Riots and protests are occurring today all over the world in Asia and Europe over high fuel and food costs. The leaders talk and talk about how everything is ok, all the while things get worse. Plus we have to endure another 6 months of the worst President in history.

protests in Asia over fuel

I am thankful, at least, that Bush is almost gone. A new era is about to begin. A great Progressive Era is coming, with reform standing at the helm stirring us to safer shores. I just hope it’s in time, for the oceans of life are often turbulent and a storm lies on the horizon.
