Since fast-food has been on my brain lately, I couldn’t help but comment on the recent headline that is jolting Americans. It appears, according to a recent AP article, that one of the greatest things we can do to prevent Global Warming from getting worse is to clean up America’s piss-poor diet and exercise routine.
It really makes sense when you think about it. Our glutinous demand for fattening foods causes far more damage than it may seem.
First of all, our lazy asses should walk down to the Kentucky Fried Chicken, instead of driving. More cars on the road means more pollution, more smog and more carbon.
Second of all, feeding our selves with deep-fried-processed carcass in turn feeds the Mass-Mechanized-Slaughter-Industry. Mass-factory slaughter is not only unhealthy for the land (such as the contaminating of the water supply with an-imaginable amount of animal urine and feces), but the processing plants are infamous for pollution, not to mention it puts the small town farmer, the backbone of America, out of business. Mass-Slaughter consumes too much of the land’s resources to be sustainable.
Lastly, almost 20% of fossil fuels consumed in this country are in the name of food production. That’s fuel spent to transport food across the heartland to feed America’s growing demand and waistlines.
Eating right and living right has positive repercussions far beyond simply looking good, feeling good and living longer. As if that were not enough incentive, now you can take comfort knowing you’re not only doing yourself a favor, you’ll be helping your fellow American’s breath better, helping the American farmer survive the onslaught of corporate agro-business and helping to keep our planet alive and well.
Handing our grandchildren a polluted dying world just so we can stuff ourselves with cheeseburgers is an irresponsible legacy. I just wonder if Americans even care anymore.
This nation has clearly lost its way. Corporate food culture has failed us, led us down the path to heart disease, diabetes, obesity, gluttony, sloth and apathy, while simultaneously polluting the Earth they get rich and fat off of. We’ve been duped!
What happened to the America I know and love? I know it’s in there somewhere, maybe it’s time America went to the gym.
