One dictator our beloved ideologically inept el Presidente Bush failed to stop is Pervez Musharraf of Pakistan. While Bush rationalized the ailing war in Iraq by declaring the deed to stop a brutal dictator who”gassed his own people” and “hated freedom” as the noblest of the noble deeds a nation can do, Bush defended his relations with this dictator as necessary for the War on Terror. Meanwhile Pervez Hilton over there began to work behind the scenes making provisions against a potential backlash to his rule.
Yesterday that work came to fruition as the deeply unpopular “president” was faced with the possibility of losing power. He struck hard and fast, declaring martial law and arresting many of his biggest enemies, even going as far as to black out non-state-run television and arresting a Supreme Court justice.
It is the kind of move a CIA-backed Latin-American dictator would play at the height of the cold war, consolidating damn near absolute power while the U.S. slaps his wrist.
“Bad Musharraf, Bad!”
The desperate dictator has had everything go his way with the U.S. until now, since Bush may be forced, due to ideological rhetoric he’s used in Iraq, to condemn Musharraf. The world is watching, and therefore, Bush must be cautious. He can’t openly support something he spends the better half of every week condemning. He must have Musharraf return the nation to a state of ambiguity. Unfortunately, Musharraf has crossed the Rubicon and there is no turning back now. Pakistan will be an open military regime until the all-seeing and wise Pervez Hilton decides to return the rule to the people, which is often, in these circumstances, a coup or the death of the dictator.
Democracy is almost dead in Pakistan. Thanks to President Bush, all we can do is send flowers and hope that the Pakistani people have the will power to rise up and resuscitate their democratic process from the evil doings of strong men like Musharraf.
One must really wonder what Bush REALLY thinks about democracy, considering he has done more to destroy it than any President in recent memory. His domestic agenda has eroded the Constitution and his foreign policy has created an American Empire with military bases all over the world. With torture policies and militarism for the sake of the Military Industrial Complex, he has weakened the fabric of democracy and made the world a more dangerous place.
Let’s see. Bush’s foreign policy report card doesn’t fair too well:
Bush on Pakistan:
His hypocrisy becomes extraordinarily evident in light of these radically different outcomes.

Complete abandonment of a traditional democratic nation for selfish reasons.
Bush on Vladamir Putin of Russia
2001 Bush said:
“I was able to get a sense of his soul, a man deeply committed to his country and the best interests of his country”
Today:
Putin is secure in power, censors the press, kills his enemies, has no plans to leave office and is positioning Russia as a U.S. rival.
Grade: D
Bush has been ineffective against Putin
Bush on North Korea:
In 2001 Bush pulled out of negotiations with North Korea, criticizing the Clinton era policies as being too soft.
Today: Bush returned to almost the exact same deal that Clinton made, only now, after years of neglect, North Korea has nuclear weapons and short range missile technology.
Grade: D+
Bush waisted 7 years only to return to the same strategy he criticized. Now they have the bomb and we have to trust them to destroy it? That’s no victory.
Bush on Isreal and Palastine:
In 2001 Bush abandoned the Oslo Peace Accords to come up with his own solution.
Today: Progress is fleeting, as every perceived victory deteriorates under the lack of commitment.

Bush on Iraq:

Complete and utter failure
Bush on Iran:
In his first term, Bush worked to undermine the Pro-Democratic faction by turning down a deal that gave the U.S. almost everything they wanted.
Today: The U.S. is becoming isolated as Iran’s newer radical anti-democratic government signs treaties with Russia, negotiates with Europe and supports insurgents in Iraq.
Grade: F
Bush has been bested by a third world nut job who openly declares the Holocaust a fraud.
Bush on Latin America:
In 7 years, Bush has become so hated, he’s had to shelve his plans for South American free trade and given left leaning governments an enemy to unite the people against.
Grade: F
Bush has faired so poorly in Latin America he’s given up on it. That is failure by any definition.
Bush as a world leader:
Quite possibly the most hated President abroad in U.S. history. He’s hated by our allies, loved by our enemies (since he helps them stay in power) and his reactionary strategy to worldwide terrorism made the world a far less safe place.

Pathetic. The United States would have been better off if he took naps in the oval office every day like old Calvin Coolidge did. Bush and his cronies destroyed everything they touched.
