The Burning Bush

Don't Do It Curious George!

America’s wannabe holy man on Pennsylvania Avenue is increasingly coming under fire as close friend and advisor Karl Rove’s involvement in serious allegations of playing politics with CIA agent’s lives, lying under oath and obstructing a special prosecutor increasingly fingers the White House. Is Rove the sole man to blame for outing CIA agent Valerie Plame? Or is perhaps Rove innocent? Or perhaps Rove is the first big fish to fry in what is becoming a scandal so big, so bad, it implicates the President himself in guilt for falsely starting the Iraq invasion.

America, for the first time in recent memory, agreed on something! 75% of all Americans, want to see the portly brainchild of Bush’s shady re-election thrown out of office if he leaked information that exposed an undercover CIA agent. I know the Republicans are all over this, trying to spin it in their direction. Claiming it’s all a smear campaign. I must say, that is truly remarkable that there are rational human beings out there that would buy that load of bull. And yet human beings manage to impress me every day. If you look at the polls, the amount of people who think Rove should stay if he leaked the name is 12% in the Democratic Party and 17% among independents and Republicans respectively. Proving once again that when faced with a matter of such importance, a hand full of people may still be pretty dim, yet the greater bulk of Americans have not forgotten what this great country was founded on… common sense!

While the country may have it’s growing doubts about Bush, The Republican’s are rallying behind their defamed leader’s champion. They call this whole matter an issue of politics, even though this special prosecutor was appointed by Bush (which leads me to have little faith in him). I truly detest those misdirection stories because they only confuse Americans, which is undoubtedly their plan. This story is complicated, but it boils down to 4 very simple points:
1. Diplomat Joe Wilson is sent by CIA to verify the acquisitions that Weapons of Mass Destruction were sold to Iraq through Nigeria.
2. Wilson finds NO sale of WMD’s calling the allegations “bogus and unrealistic”. (which proved correct)
3. White House smears diplomat by outing his undercover CIA agent wife (a very clever move).
4. White House denies having anything to do with it, then tells Special Prosecutor (which was appointed by Bush) two different stories.
At this point, the above four points are looking all but certified by the President himself. The leak is now incontrovertible, it happened. The Special Prosecutor is pressing very hard on the top White House figures. Two different stories were told to the Prosecutor, indicating that someone lied. Who lied? It appears it is either Bush’s crown prince of darkness, Mr. Karl Rove, or Dick Cheney’s loyal 2nd in command ( a very well known Neo-Con-Artist) Lewis “Scoter” Libby (yes the man is nicknamed “scoter”, I only wish his brain was as pathetic as his nickname). These two men are so profoundly influential in the Bush White House, that if one was to get convicted of a crime (the new standard for getting ousted from Bush’s high command, which is about as low as you can go.), and these are some pretty serious crimes by the way, a conspiracy charge could theoretically be leveled against Bush with very little evidence. While this charge would undoubtedly be thrown out of any court, this is the first time that we are even theoretically talking about realistic charges against the President himself.

In other words, Bush is talking to his lawyers.

These crimes are not light. Outing a CIA agent undermines our efforts to fight terrorism abroad. Anyone connected to this lady, and her now defunct company, “Brewster Jennings” are now known as frauds thanks to the leak. The Radical Right, or Radical Wrong as I like to call them, say that Diplomat Wilson’s wife Valerie Plame had a desk job. So what?! The President has a desk job, does no one depend on the President’s security and ability to lead? Or perhaps what if your boss at work was fingered for stealing, do you think that would affect you? Not to mention that this exposes a part of our intelligence that may give away methods used by other agents (for instance Brewster Jennings was the name of a U.S. oil entrepreneur who founded Mobil , something the enemy has undoubtedly looked into by now). The CIA is understandably very upset that their secrets are being spilled for political purposes, shouldn’t the American people be too?
But of course the crimes don’t stop there! No, no! Bush’s White House is now being looked at for far more serious allegations. If the White House lied to the Special Prosecutor under oath about the leak, they basically felt they were superior to answering any questions the people of the United States have. Which breaks two laws, perjury (for lying under oath) and obstruction of justice (for preventing the prosecutor Bush appointed from doing his job).

This isn’t some blowjob under the Oval Office Desk. This is VERY serious stuff, because it ULTIMATELY IMPLICATES THE PRESIDENT FOR STARTING A WAR FULL WELL KNOWING THAT THERE WAS NO EVIDENCE TO JUSTIFY IT.

This is the beginning of the end for Bush. That’s why he can’t fire Rove or Libby! Hell, Bush can’t allow them to discover that Rove cast a Voodoo curse on diplomat Joe Wilson. Because if he admits that Rove discredited Wilson, it means that Bush ignored the CIA and relied on British Intelligence to launch the war (the only other CIA evidence was gathered mostly from an extremely discredited agent code named “Curveball” , who’s information had been proven to be false before the war, and was later called an out-and-out fabricator by White House WMD researcher David Kay) What this all boils down to is Bush wanted his war so bad, that he ignored the growing doubts in his own foreign intelligence department.

That my friends, is the smoking gun!

So don’t be surprised that the Republicans and Bush will fight this till the American people will stand it no more. They have no choice. There back is to the wall on this. Despite what they may claim, the truth is so abundantly against them, the wealthy people that own the media industry (and that have profited greatly under Bush as well) now have to allow the truth about Rove’s crimes to be broadcast nationally in the news headlines. They may make it the second headline, but the truth has become so abundantly clear that either Rove or “Scoter” will be involved in some way in the Special Prosecution Investigation.

While the chaotic world will gobble away attention for a while, mark my words, we haven’t heard the last of this battle. The press is starting to regain its balls, which were neutered by, you guessed it, Karl Rove. His brilliant strategies of leaking information that later proved to be incorrect (the most recent was the release of the Supreme Court nominee), has been brilliant. Unfortunately for them, it was perhaps one move too bold too late.

But don’t go thinking this is revenge. The press has no power to convict; they only have the power to conceal, which they have done so profoundly well for this president, as he played them all for fools. Scandal after scandal swept under the rug. Lie after lie forgotten for another lie.

It all reminds me of a famous quote:

You can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you can not fool all of the people all of the time.
Abraham Lincoln, (attributed)
16th president of US (1809 – 1865)

Sooner or later a great nation awakes from its slumber… I pray it’s in time to save the great nation.
