Terry McAwful sent me this email asking me to tell them how to be a better Democratic party.
As follows are my comments:
Please stop leaning into the center, don’t jump back to the left, drop the moderate nonsense. We need to make a new category, Progressivism. This whole idea of fighting over a couple upper-middle class votes when half the country doesn’t vote is obviously a failure. You need to speak to the people. This is the party of FDR, Woodrow Wilson and JFK not the party of Bill Clinton.
You are alienating the base of the party because you sound like Republicans. It’s time to sweep out the old party leadership, and get some fresh blood in there. The existing leadership looks like a bunch of wimps. Now the party has lost everything, what do we have to lose? Let’s be fighters, for God sakes, grow some balls! Take advantage of the republicans being the new party of religion, and concede those 20 million voters for the vast pool that’s out there now. Or point out to the religious that the Republicans do more to destroy family values by forcing 2 income households to be the standard, leading to unsupervised teens, which leads to crime and teen pregnancy, which can cause abortion.
Just do anything besides what your doing now: Pandering to the rich!
Start speaking some sense to people; the Left is united on a lot more than just hating Bush. We hate everything the Right has been doing to our country for the last 25 years. Our wages are going down, our schools are falling apart, and the budgets are all in deficit. Meanwhile we are off fighting some pointless war that is making the Elite richer. The corporations are getting so powerful they are almost unopposed. What ever happened to the Sherman Anti-Trust Act?
America is becoming less and less of a democracy each day, and becoming more and more of an Aristocratic Oligopoly. If the Democrats won’t fight for the interest of the people then who will?
Don’t you see what is going on! It’s not that people are stupid; they just think you are pointless.
So please, grow some balls and fight! You should have fought those tax bills harder, you should have fought the war harder; you should have fought the environmental laws harder. That is the DNC leadership’s mistake, and look where it got you, nowhere!
It’s time to make a stand!
