Obama is Progress

My Letter to the President

Obama is Progress

Obama is Progress, even if it is taking a while and being road-blocked by a GOP “do-nothing” Congress that has failed America.

Mr. President,

Raise taxes to end the debt crisis. Don’t slash entitlement programs.

I know you have angled the party well for the next election, so don’t slash entitlements. They may speak of you the way many talk of the health care plan that Nixon had, yet nobody really cares what the right wing thinks anyway. These guys could fry eggs on their tin-foil domes and nobody really cares.

Mr. President, I know you live in the most conservative district in the world, the government area of DC, yet you don’t need to travel far to see that real America is pissed off at you for not standing up ENOUGH to the powers that be.

We love Elizabeth Warren, too bad you couldn’t even recess appoint her.

We love health-care reform, too bad you run away from it every chance you get.

We love transportation, yet your plan has no chance of passing Congress because you are not doing what Tip O’Neil did, which is call every Congressmen and recite all the bridges and roads in their districts that are falling apart.

Mr. President, you are in a unique position. You have your base so sown up they will not vote for a Republican, yet the real question is, will they vote at all?!

I am a true Progressive, in the spirit of Teddy Roosevelt. I embrace many socialist principles, and many conservative ones too. All I care about is progress, what is best for the American people. Somehow, I get the feeling that you and I are very much alike.

Regardless, take action!
Be bold! Do stuff!

Bush II ruined this country but nobody cares about executive orders or transparency any longer. As the drumbeat of bad news is annoying, how about this zinger: We want results!

Please Mr. President, evoke the 14th Amendment option. America needs a leader. So far, you’ve been OK, yet your no Clinton!

Be a leader. Be the adult in the room. Be a Progressive. Don’t apologize for it. The first Progressive president was a Republican, Teddy Bear

He got so much done in a short period that Americans love him to this day. The Teddy Bear is a unique distinction, yet I feel you are not far from this too. While he wasn’t the trust buster we all thought he was, we love him all the same.

One of the reasons historians look to Teddy so many times, is that he was just so interesting. As far as being a Muckraker, Teddy was doing this before the Rough-Riders.

Mr. President, I know you try hard to be in the middle. What I’m telling you is this, the middle, still, to this day, is Teddy Roosevelt. Please stand up!
